President of Mexico: Migrant Influx to the US Decreased by 50 Percent!

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has once again called on Washington to support development programs aimed at reducing migration, noting that the flow of migrants to the US has decreased by 50% in recent months.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has announced that the flow of migrants heading to the United States has decreased by 50% in recent months. Speaking at a regular press conference on Monday, Obrador noted that the number of migrants has dropped significantly since December, when tens of thousands of migrants crossed Mexico to reach the US border.

From Crisis to Normalization

Recalling that in December there was a crisis on Mexico’s northern border with 12,000 migrants crossing daily, Lopez Obrador emphasized that this number was reduced to 6,000 per day as a result of joint efforts. “Through joint efforts, we have reduced this average to 6,000,” the President said.

Lopez Obrador emphasized the importance of investing in Central American countries to solve the main source of the migration problem. Stating that they need development aid to create jobs and improve living conditions, Obrador said that they have requested support from the US in this regard.

Lopez Obrador said, “We are working on this. Our proposal from the very beginning was to address the causes of the problem,” he said, arguing that this approach is the most effective way to solve the migration problem.

Continuous Call to Biden

Lopez Obrador stated that he has repeatedly called on US President Joe Biden to allocate resources to reduce the migration problem through development. Emphasizing that Washington should provide more support in this regard, Obrador believes that investments in Central American countries will play a critical role in solving the migration problem permanently.

Development Programs and Future Plans

The Mexican President detailed the development programs they are developing to stabilize the region and control the influx of migrants. These programs aim to improve economic and social conditions in Central America and reduce the need for people to migrate.

Lopez Obrador said that with US support, these programs will become more effective and will greatly alleviate the migrant crisis in the region. “US support for development programs means peace and stability, not only for Mexico and Central America, but for the entire continent,” the president said.
